Traffic tickets received in New Jersey must be resolved in the municipal court where that ticket was issued. In most cases, an appearance in court is not required unless you are ordered to attend or wish to contest your citation. Please contact the municipal court listed on the citation for details regarding your infraction.
Most New Jersey citizens come into contact with the judicial system, either as a defendant, a victim, or a witness, through the municipal courts. They are considered to be courts of limited jurisdiction, including the responsibility related to motor vehicle and parking tickets.
